Legal
Terms of Service
The agreement between you and ShadowDB when you use the GitHub App, the dashboard or the API.
Draft · This document is under legal review and is not yet in effect. Text in [BRACKETS] is still to be filled in.
01Who these terms are with
These terms are an agreement between you (or the organisation you act for) and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("ShadowDB", "we").
By installing the ShadowDB GitHub App, signing in, or calling the API you accept these terms. If you accept for an organisation, you confirm you can bind it.
02What the service does
ShadowDB reads the migration files in your pull requests, replays them on a throwaway PostgreSQL database in an isolated sandbox, and reports the locks, rewrites and timings it observed as a GitHub check.
Results describe what happened in the rehearsal. They are not a guarantee of how a migration will behave on your production database, and you remain responsible for what you deploy.
03Your account and your content
You keep all rights to your code and data. You give us the permission we need to fetch, store and process it to run the service for you, and for nothing else.
You are responsible for the people you invite to your organisation and for keeping your credentials and API tokens safe.
04Acceptable use
Don't use ShadowDB to attack or probe our infrastructure or other customers, to run workloads that aren't migrations (such as crypto-mining), or to break the law.
We may limit or suspend runs that put the service or other customers at risk, and will tell you why.
05Plans, fees and early access
During early access the service may be free, change without notice and have no uptime commitment. Paid plans, if any, are described at the time you subscribe. [PAYMENT TERMS, TAXES, REFUNDS]
06Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the GitHub App and deleting your organisation. Deleted organisations are purged, including stored artifacts, after 30 days.
We may end the agreement for a serious breach of these terms, with notice where we reasonably can.
07Warranties and liability
The service is provided "as is". [WARRANTY DISCLAIMER] [LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND CAP] [INDEMNITY]
08Changes and governing law
We will give at least [30] days' notice of material changes to these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes go to the courts of [VENUE].
